Attention all fans of good music. There’s an incredible show this Thursday that wasn’t listed in the November issue of Volume One due to a late booking. Halloween, Alaska is coming to the Stones Throw again (for I think their 3rd visit) in the middle of a busy schedule which includes releasing their second album in Europe, getting national-level press attention, and having a song on The OC. Here’s a couple blurbs on their new album:
"A lot of bands claim not to fit any preexisting pop music genre, but few can back up such claims as convincingly as Minneapolis-based Halloween, Alaska... jittery-jungly and swooningly melodic... sonically large and weirdly cathartic.... Highly recommended." –All Music Guide
"...passionate and entrancing journeys with multi-layers, polyrhythm, and velvety smooth vocals... easily a contender for the best electronic album of the year, or better yet, electronica blanket." –ARTISTdirect
This band contains members of other bands who have played in this area, including 12 Rods, Happy Apple, Love-cars, and the Bad Plus. You are well-advised to grab some friends and check it out.
